Questions when buying a new air conditioner

What is SEER rating?

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating. Simply put it’s the savings of electricity the unit requires to operate. Just like Gas mileage on your car except, let’s think about electricity mileage.

Can an air conditioner unit be moved?

Yes, we can move your air conditioner in many cases. There are code requirements that will dictate the location along with access to the existing utilities. How much it will cost to move the air conditioner depends on many factors, contact us to request a free consultation.

Should you replace the ductwork when replacing HVAC system?

Several factors apply here. Depending on the year of your home, and the current condition of your ducts and the R value of the insulation.

How much maintenance is needed on an air conditioner?

Typically, 1 time per year is sufficient, we would recommend springtime. Let’s get the AC ready for the hard summer ahead. Southern California winters are mild, and the Heaters do not run all that often.

What size air conditioner do I need for my home?

There are lots of factors beyond the size of your house to determine the size of air conditioner you need.

For example, the quality of your ductwork and insulation.

Our sales team will review your current conditions along with several other factors to provide you with a system fitted for your home.

how often should you change air conditioner filters?

Depending on your usage, at least two times per year. A good rule of thumb is the beginning of April (around Easter), 4th of July and End of October (Halloween).

Do I need a Permit?

Yes, a building permit is required for a new system and certain alterations, there will be some costs related to the permit, that’s OK, the permit is for your protection to ensure the job is performed correctly. It will also weed out any unlicensed contractors.
